Spring CleanUp 2018

This time we got the weather just right and after a foggy start we had a glorious spring morning for the Spring CleanUp. In fact, the weather was so good that for the first time both coffee at the start and lunch at the end were taken outside.

The session was again very well supported and included several new faces representing a complete cross section of ages. The grass in Hallifax Gardens had already been cut twice this year by Waverley and so we were able to concentrate on the details that they do not touch, including planting new shrubs, weeding the beds and creating new edges. We also cleared all the weeds out from beneath the hedge along Cherry Tree Road with a view to planting this up in the future.

A lot of effort was put into cleaning litter from the gullies in The Long Road and Boundary Road and once again the Brownies cleared the Recreation Ground. Again a small team worked on the surround to the Village Hall and, for the first time, we cleaned all the road signs throughout the village.

The long line of plastic sacks awaiting collection by Waverley bore testimony to how much work a team can cover in just an hour or two.

Do come along and join in for the autumn session at the start of November.
