Village Competition 2018

On Saturday 10 February, the eighth running of this annual event, with ten village teams competing for the prestigious Village Competition Cup, lived up to expectations and was as tightly contested as in previous years.

Over the course of the 13 rounds of games and quizzes, the lead changed hands many times until, as the double points for the final round picture quiz were about to be added, the Fayre Committee were just 3 points ahead of the defending champions St James. This was a repeat of the position at the same point last year and once again St James were able to leap frog into the lead exactly as they had last year. This year the margin was even closer with St James just 3 points ahead of the Fayre team after they finished fourth and seventh respectively in the final round.

Once again everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves and it was great to see the village hall buzzing as 100 people let their hair down playing darts, shove halfpenny and other traditional games.
